Asmaa El Nawawy is an Egyptian visual artist born in Cairo in 1981. She graduated with honors from the faculty of fine arts, oil painting section in 2003 and joined the faculty staff as an assistant in 2004. She finished her master in Fine arts in “The role of arts and culture symbols in the art work structure during the symbolism movement” in 2010.
El Nawawy is one of the most active in the Egyptian art scene. She participated in numerous group exhibitions and held her first solo exhibition in El Gezira Art centre in Cairo.
Her work was recognized and awarded in numerous exhibitions: Prize at exhibition of fine arts lovers association in 2000; Honor prize in drawing at Salon Youth in 2001 and 2004; Honor prize in painting at Helwan University in 2003; prize of El-Sawy Culturewheel at the salon of Youth in 2005 and finally the prize of Alexandria library at the salon of youth in 2006.
