LOOKING BACK | HAMDI ATTIA (B. 1964) | AL MASAR GALLERY | JANUARY 5th – JANUARY 25th, 2025

Al Masar Gallery is delighted to present established and renowned Artist Hamdi Attia’s fifth solo which is his First retrospective Exhibition, featuring his works from 1994 to 2021.

Hamdi Attia was born and raised in Assiut, Egypt, 1964. He Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Art in Cairo, 1987. His work examines the relationship between cartography, geography, the body, while using video, mapping, painting, and sculpture. In his early career in 1995, he represented Egypt along with 2 other Artists at the Venice Biennial, when Egypt’s Pavilion granted the Grand “Golden Lion” prize.

Attia’s works was exhibited in several biennials and has been featured in Numerous Solo and group exhibitions at Al Masar Gallery in Cairo since 2008, in Amman, Doha, New York, Philadelphia, Detroit, Paris, Rome, Oslo, Bergen, Copenhagen, Basel, Marrakesh and São Paulo. Attia has also been commissioned for a number of public works in Egypt, Italy, USA, and at the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome. Attia received his MFA at the University of Pennsylvania, and currently lives and works between Cairo and Chicago, and Al Masar Gallery exclusively represents the Artist.
