Mohamed Nagi (1888 – 1956), is a much acclaimed painter who was born in Alexandria, Egypt. Nagi was among the generation of pioneers – the first generation – who set the standard for a renaissance of Egyptian modern art. Nagi’s art tended towards the impressionist school & its use of colors. His paintings came to be characterized by a delicacy & transparency in color accompanied by a strong & balanced composition as well as an obvious influence from ancient Egyptian murals.
