Al Masar Gallery | The Art Lounge has the pleasure to announce the opening of “Hamdi Attia | Works on Paper” by internationally renowned contemporary artist Hamdi Attia. Hamdi Attia studied at the College of Fine Arts in Cairo , and pursued advanced studies in painting and sculpture at the Egyptian Academy of Fine Arts in Rome . Attia also received an MFA in sculpture from the University of Pennsylvania . He represented Egypt at the Venice Biennial in 1995 taking the top pavilion prize with Akram Al-Magdoub. He also showed at the Cairo Biennial in 1997, the Canaries Biennial in 2006 and the Brussels Biennial in 2008. His work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Cairo, New York, Paris, Rome, Sao Paulo, Detroit, Canaries, Zanzibar, Rabat, Basel, Salzburg, and Philadelphia. Attia currently lives and works between Cairo and Philadelphia.

The exhibition “Hamdi Attia | Works on Paper” will continue through May 9th , 2013
